About Jon

The Fedora Consultancy was established in 2005, offering a hands-on service for clients looking for help with business strategy, marketing and promotional campaigns.

Founder Jon Hepburn is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a Chartered Marketer. Jon had many years’ experience in a variety of marketing roles before setting up Fedora. Having worked in environments ranging from manufacturing to training videos and legal expenses insurance, Jon enjoys being able to adapt and apply his strategic marketing experience to the specific needs of different industries.

Jon is also the founder of yourmarketingplan.co.uk marketing planning service developed for smaller businesses, to help them adopt a ‘marketing orientation’ – this simply means putting your customers at the centre of the decisions you make about your business.

Previously Jon was Managing Director of Legally Better Ltd, who provided a range of client satisfaction and feedback services to law firms.

Jon also works alongside a network of associates, handpicked for their expertise and experience and drawn from a wide range of marketing disciplines, including communications, editorial, design, digital and video production. This means that Jon can bring together a team of professionals whose skills are tailored to your needs.

Fedora Consultancy’s overall aim is to provide a cost-effective and integrated approach to marketing, communications and business development projects. Jon works either on a retainer basis or on individual projects – whichever is most suited to your needs.

How Jon works

At the heart of the business is my belief that good marketing practice is grounded in authenticity. For me, this means making sure that the activities I recommend to you – along with the language and imagery I use in communicating your messages – are ones that reflect the nature of who you are and where you want to be as a business. I believe that this helps you to create genuine, meaningful connections with your clients and peers.

I begin with a detailed discussion to quickly get to grips with your situation and the aims for your business. From there, I’ll rapidly develop an understanding of the priorities, agree an action plan (and a budget), then select a team with the relevant expertise to get on with the job.

I work closely with you to maximise your marketing investment – liaising with relevant personnel within your firm, current suppliers and introducing new service providers where required. I am also very happy to work alongside any in-house resources or existing service providers you may already have.

Fees

Once a project brief has been agreed, I submit detailed costings (from Fedora and any third parties or suppliers) for your approval before any work or activity is progressed. These are charged separately according to the project required and payment made directly from the client to the third party. Please note that payment in advance is not required by Fedora, but may be required by some other service providers.
